Basically Apple has refreshed its new iMac inwardly and outwardly its remains as cool as ever. hardware and software
In the new iMac models Apple combines a powerful desktop processor with a mobile graphics card. The most advanced version of new iMac powered by Core i7 processor with Sandy Bridge series having clock speed of 3.4 GHz. In addition it also comes with a mobile AMD Radeon HD 6970M and 1 GB of graphics to memory. Apple new iMac comes with Thunderbolt, the USB 3.0-infected competitor, which is available in all new iMac models. The 27-inch versions of iMac is equipped with the same two ports and Apple iMac staff officially presented and demonstrated its performance. Quite warm, but quietly
With such strong components the iMac aluminum housing heat up considerably particular, the upper edge. Due to the risk hardware heat up, Apple once again active in a well designed cooling system but under heavy load the fan is easily audible. But the classical desktop graphics cards of iMac makes it real noise killer.
High Power Consumption
In addition to greater heat development brings top hardware and more energy-hungry with them. That shows in the new iMac are clear differences. As he pulls the power switch is off just 0.5 watts, the value increases in the operating system idle (idle) already at 158 watts. This value includes also the cost of electricity for the display. If we start Portal 2 and thus put the system under load, the power consumption increased to over 260 watts. This is roughly equivalent to a properly-equipped mid-range PC when the monitor is not debriefed. Compared to 27-inch iMac with the previous-generation Core i3, who still got along with 52 watts (idle) and 166 watts (load), our test unit swallow but in both cases almost 100 watts more power. To be fair, but must be said that the two iMacs are comparable in performance to almost together.
Conclusion
The new iMac is not a revolution instead, Apple has revised the All-in-one flagship, especially the technology inside. In the new iMac the more emphasis has been given to Sandy Bridge and the strong AMD graphics which makes it so much powerful. Due to its powerful features we can assume that the new iMac computers is designed to target target group of gaming players. But only one which thing which we can say the drawback in Apple iMac is significant increases of power consumption.
