ar.drone-face CES 2010 in Las Vegas is the event not to be missed by technology enthusiasts and consumers alike. The events has everything for anyone and everyone, ranging from the latest cell phones, home theatre systems, laptops, processors and what not. The event is still very much in progress till January 10th 2010. One hot attraction is the Quadricopter that was unveiled at this show. It is a small toy craft which has four propellers, it can be flown anywhere (indoors as well as outdoors), has dual camera system, flies at 18 Kmph, weighs around 400 grams, connects via WiFi and best of all it can be remotely controlled by an iPhone or iPod Touch. That just about sums it up.

It is a work of art and only a genius could have imagined such a device. Also called as the AR Drone, it is made of Carbon Fiber and high resistance plastics. This means one doesn’t have to worry about the minor bumps, bruises and falls that might come. The device will stream live video to users iPhone/iPod Touch on a WiFi link.Besides all this it has necessary Image processing software for added reality, and better piloting of the craft.

super mario wii Super Mario Bros for Wii is available for $39.99 at Amazon. And in this price it comes with free shipping. The game will not be available before January the 3rd 2010, but that’s not far off is it? Some places might sell it for $49.99 but that depends on where you look for it and might not include free shipping,or even may, who knows.

My advice: hurry up and order it while stocks last.

avatar2 James Cameroon probably hadn’t imagined the amount of attention and furor his movie Avatar would create. The movie that has already been nominated for 4 Golden Globes and some 9 other nominations, the movie that has spurred creation of an Avatar game for the iPhone has now finally culminated in the creation of a game for PCs.

The gamers are taken in to Pandora, an alien planet beyond anyone’s imagination. They encounter Na’vi people and countless unimaginable life forms. That is when they will find themselves fighting an alien species in an unknown land far away from anything conceivable. The graphics are simply awesome and the species well one has to see them to believe. Let me put it this way, “it is unlike anything you have ever seen before”.

The game is priced at around $46 and is available from Amazon. It is also available for PSP, PS3,Xbox 360 and the Nintendo.

dsill Nintendo is bringing out a new handheld gaming device that is upsized in comparison to the previous models. The gaming device sports two screens 4.25” in size. It is bigger in size as compared to the present DS and DSi models. It is expected to be launched in Japan somewhere in November 2009 and will be called the DSi LL. In Europe it will be dubbed as the DSi XL and will hit the shelves somewhere in the first quarter of 2010. Possible details about launch in the US are not known.

In comparison to the DS and DSi the DSi LL has almost an inch greater screen, and is 30 mm larger diagonally. Not much of a difference in the thickness though, a mere 2 mm difference in comparison to the DS. It is heavy by almost a 100 grams in comparison to the other models.

It supports the DS, DSi and DSiWare Nintendo software. Other features include DS Card slot, SD Memory card, AC Adaptor, Headphones and Mic. The expected price is around $220.In nutshell the only difference is the larger screen size if that interests the avid gamers is anybody’s guess.

howzat Their is a loyal following of Cricket the world over. This game is played, watched, applauded and criticized both on field as well as off field (online). There have been countless releases of Cricket for PCs, boasting of a plethora of features, like choosing your desired team, players, stadium venue, time, pitch and almost everything that one can imagine related to Cricket. All this is good for playing on hardware intensive PCs having gigs of RAM and storage space and off course guaranteed supply of electricity. These games cost a lot and need time and effort to play for example the famous EA Sports Cricket. The only thing lacking in this sphere is convenience.

In today’s time time constrained environment there is need to have a small game, rich in functionality, one that does not require installation, needs no specialized hardware, and has advanced features like ability to play online, form within one’s browser, is even social! Well that is something non-existent as of today. Well actually not for long.

Howzat is a new, to be released game that is sure to become a winner in the coming days. This game has all of the features discussed in the preceding paragraph plus some more. For example one can manage his/her own team, customize players, various batting modes are supported, various types of shots are supported, three bowling modes, fielding setting that are customizable, and itcan be played frm Facebook or Orkut! I

This means it can be played with anyone sitting in the remotest corner of the world with Internet connectivity. The game supports full screen mode as well as reduced window for discretion. This has to be the ultimate kind of game which is short, and hence tempting. Besides this the makers say it is social as people do not like to play alone and is sexy! A game and sexy? How is that? Or Howzat you ask? Well scratch your head to figure it out or wait for its release :-)

mindsotrm Cricket fans will have something new to talk about now after the release of Mindstorm’s Cricket Revolution. By the way Mindstorm happens to be a Pakistani game development studio that has created this very impressive title. The Demo version is available at the Cricket Revolution’s website and tentative release date is 30th October 2009. What impressed me most about this game was its interface, an easy learning curve, help and guidelines besides a host of features.

The game can be played online with other competitors, in LAN mode, offline mode or even for normal bowling and batting practice. Thanks to player ranking you may also be matched to a player of your ranking for a match online, it can be played in a variety of environments i.e day/night etc, and different types of pitches. Teams can also be selected at will. A host of batsmen as well as bowlers actions can be selected to choose from, to make the game more interesting and give more control to the players.

Various events can be viewed since the game records videos and off course the much needed scoring facility is there for recording individual runs. It has its very own community site, player guide, wallpapers, screenshots, forums. The game doe snot have very stringent hardware requirements, it requires a minimum Pentium 4 at 2.0 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 500 MB of space, a 128 MB Video card and DirectX compliant sound card, anything above this is a blessing. A good start for a Pakistani company, we wish them luck.

250GB_PS3-493x440 Since the launch of Sony Corporation’s the 120 GB PS3 over a million units have been sold. During the same period over 600 million types of digital content has been downloaded. Now the word is out that the Slim with a 250 GB hard disk is being released on 3rd November 2009. That should be good news for all those who had so far not bought the 120 GB version and certainly bad news for all those who already have. The monster is as slim as its predecessor and will retail at $350. The bigger capacity means more storage space for movies, games, photos and everything digital. The earlier version with a 120 GB capacity will keep on selling for $50 less and the PS3 (Fat) ones are also not being discontinued.
