ipod-nano-camera The company that never runs short of innovative ideas has launched the latest iPod Nano that has amazing features which were previously unheard of. this is an iPod Nano with built in camera. Yes sir,the new Apple iPod Nano sports a video camera that captures crisp quality videos for sharing over the web or even E-mailing. Also included is a microphone that promises to capture clear sound. The whole lineup comes in nine catchy colors to choose from, the polished anodized Aluminum finish gives it the much needed facelift. The Nano has a 2.2” screen for better viewing. Also included is an FM Tuner with new features which include ability to pause live music and then listen to it again. One can rewind up to 15 minutes and then catch up to the live broadcast with a simple click. The tuner also displays artists names as well as song titles. Voice over lets you navigate through your songs without looking at the gadgets face since the songs are read over to you via the speaker. You cal also take voice memos, reminders or record a lecture if you will. Perhaps the most stunning feature is the addition of a Pedometer to record each foot step you take on that morning jog!  Next I guess they will include a BMI calculator, a breath analyzer, mood predictor or even a girlfriend tracer if she is  lost, accidently :-)

OK so we’ve come down to the last ten rozas and we can now officially enter panic mode, especially those of us whose motto is ‘Why do today what you can do tomorrow?!’ and have therefore yet to finish or worse still, even begin their eid shopping. Is it just me or does everyone find it impossible to drag themselves to the bazaar in Ramadan? The persistent heat, grumbling stomachs and parched throats prevent you from going out before Iftar and bloated bellies swimming with a mixture of pakoras and lemonade are to blame after! Shop keepers this time around are complaining that the customer response is very poor.

shoping

And whose fault is THAT I ask? All lame excuses not withstanding, shopping these days has become such a hassle. It is no longer the enjoyable exercise it once used to be. There’s too much traffic, the shops are too crowded, the items are too expensive and the imminent danger of a bomb going off anytime hangs in the air.

Not to mention the fact that tailors these days have become nothing less than blood sucking vampires. Yeah yeah, the Taliban are supposed to be the friends I know…but we Pakistani women are most exploited and threatened by these creatures I tell you! And eid is literally a hunting season for them!

All of them have exponentially increased their stitching charges. They stop taking clothes after the first few days of ramadan claiming overload and then have the audacity of demanding double or triple rates for “urgent” stiching! Despite all this, it takes atleast 5 odd trips to get your stiched clothes back from them, so you can easily add atleast another Rs 500 to the bill for fuel! Frankly, all this hassle is just not worth it ladies. For those of you who are blessed with figures trim enough to fit in the available sizes, go for ready-to-wear. It’s so much easier than going for the alternative. The good quality clothes range between Rs 3000 to Rs 5000. Too expensive you say? Let’s do the math (and I’m being quite miserable here):

Fabric – Rs 2000

+

Lace, piko,dying etc – Rs 500

+

Stiching – Rs 500

+

Fuel – Rs 500

=Rs 3500/-

See ladies…you’re spending that much anyways! Not to mention the priceless effort and fatigue that goes into it! I mean how many of us have been elbowed, pushed and shoved by over enthusiastic (to the extent of aggressive) aunties in those hot and humid lace shops?! Women are literally spilling out the doorways. It takes hours to get what you need, if at all! So save yourself the trouble in the apparel department at least. You’ll need ALL your energy for the dreaded shoe shopping! My hubby is always hysterical at the sight of women of all shapes, ages and sizes running around ECS and Metro clutching scraps and cuttings of their eid clothes trying to find matching chappals, dodging shoe boxes showering down on them from the boys above, and fighting with the salesmen over sizes, colors and prices!

Oh well…enough already! Since I’m NOT one of the blessed slim types, I have to stop writing now, get off my butt and enter the battlefield! Catch you later!

medical Experts are predicting that in ten years time robots will assist surgeons in carrying out operations without the need for making an incision to the human body. And how will that happen if you may ask? quite simply the small robots will be inserted inside the human body through natural openings which will assemble once there in to bigger units capable of carrying small movements and  surgical operations. The whole concept is to aid the surgeons and not replace them. Such operations will be painless, won’t require anesthetics and will ensure swift recovery for the patients. Laparoscopic cameras which traditionally require an assistant to move will now be moved by a device mounted on the surgeon’s head and a foot pedal. However, the obvious loss to this all is the absence of sense of touch which the human hand has, but this the experts say can be overcome by repeated use and better skills.  But I am going to wait till they start Liposuction without pain and anesthesia :-)

Picture this…you are coming out of a restaurant after a sumptuous meal with your dearly beloved, content with everything  that life has to offer on a particularly full stomach, when you suddenly run into an old acquaintance. You recognize her instantly, the same pretty features, the same petite figure, and dressed to kill. You give her a big smile and an enthusiastic “hi there!”. You see a trace of recognition on her face but also a significant chunk of doubt. “Oh hi!” Comes the reluctant response. “Umm….do I know you?”.  “Humph! Still her snobbish self I see”, you say inwardly. “Yeah it’s me XXX from college remember!”. “Ohhh of course! …. Uh, what happened to you?!” And the penny drops! The poor girl cannot be blamed for her stroke of amnesia. The truth is that you’ve managed to pack on the pounds after a few years of marriage and a couple of kids while in her case time seemed to have simply stopped still.  Ahh! the cruelties that life has to offer. One day you’re a young nymphet with seemingly ageless beauty and before you know it, you’re a big lump of mass that seems to hold no shape whatsoever. The fact that the guy standing next to you looks five years younger is no help at all either! Why is that marriage takes a heavy toll on women (well most of them anyway) and the men just get better looking every day? Most of us solemnly swear that we haven’t changed from what we were as bachelorettes. We didn’t bother too much with hair and makeup and exercise even then. But here’s the thing girlfriends…THEN we didn’t need it…NOW we do! Throwing on a comfy dress, pulling back your hair in a ponytail and walking out without bothering with makeup is a luxury most of us can no longer afford. We are now officially in the “Biwis who have Let Ourselves Go” category, which from hereon I will refer to as BLOG (pun intended) for my own convenience.housewife

Irritatingly enough, we BLOGs keep getting warnings about how husbands “wander” when wives let themselves go. I know what you’re thinking: “What? NO WAY! Mine is an angel! Besides, he loves me the way I am!”. The mere suggestion of a drifting husband may be considered ludicrous and therefore laughed off at the time, but sure enough a worry starts gnawing at your insides. How long will it take when your “angel” starts getting fed up of the way you look? How long will his patience be tested?  Sure he loves you the way you are, but why make it tougher and tougher for him to do so?! Truth be told, you KNOW you’re taking up most of the bed and yet you take offense if hubby dearest even suggests any weight gain.

So the question is why DO we let go of ourselves? To be very frank, we BLOGs love to perpetually pass the buck in this regard. We blame it on lack of time, on kids, on our careers and running the house.  We blame it on inattentive or distracted husbands (he won’t notice anyway!). And we even blame it on low cash reserves (why not spend it on the kids instead?). Although there is much truth in all this, the bottom line ladies, is that we put ourselves at the bottom of our own priority lists. And in doing so, we turn into unrecognizable, frumpy slobs.  It’s a shame really, because all women by nature, love being attractive. Get real…who doesn’t want to look beautiful? Even the most brainy and career driven women who want to be admired for their brains rather than their bodies still want to look attractive.

You know it doesn’t take all that much, just a little bit of effort and time. Try to dress presentably all the time, not just for special occasions. The very least you can do is make sure your clothes are clean, your hair doesn’t look disheveled and your face is a little touched up. Get rid of the pregnancy weight once and for all. Blaming your kids for looking like a hippo just doesn’t cut it. There are plenty of women out there who manage to return to their normal weight. Just watch your diet, choose healthy alternatives over junk food. Join a gym. If you can’t go to a gym, go for a regular walk instead.  You don’t have to have a killer figure to look good…just try not to grow to the size of a killer whale! Change your hairdo after every few months or so. And puhleez ladies, leave the facial hair to the men! Don’t grow a beard and visit your beautician once a month. It’s OK to pamper yourself once in a while! We give so much to others….why not give a little to ourselves? It’s important for our own sanity to spend more time on ourselves. Don’t do it because it’s expected of you, or to impress people. When you do it for others, it becomes more of a chore to be performed for others. That’s not the way to go about it. So don’t do it for others, do it for YOU. Do it because when you look good, you feel good. Above all, do it because you’re worth it.

So go girls! Be beautiful… inside out.

Getting pregnant is one of the biggest happiness for all mom-to-be’s. The worth of this should be asked from people who are dying to hear this great news from their doctors. If you are lucky to be on a pregnancy ride, just chill and enjoy every moment of it. As you progress through different trimesters, you find yourself rolling in different feelings, strange moods and very unique symptoms; you have not felt before in your life.healthy-diet-in-pregnancy

There are lots of ways you can try and make it a positive time of your life. Keep reading about various pregnancy stages by consulting some top sites such as babycentre, What to expect and more. These sites make you aware about which week you’re in, what test you need to take and how to keep yourself healthier all through this phase. So before you make your next visit to your doctor, you are smart enough to know what they are talking about.

This is one time of your life where you feel emotional, irritated, tired and angry on just anything. You hate to get dressed, look good or move out. Your body is continuously changing and you hate to work, wash dishes or even bend down to pick garbage. The only thing you enjoy doing is taking food. Pregnancy is one time of life when you can eat anything you want, and anytime you want. But it is always wise to eat healthier food.

What else you can do is start preparing for the new comer in your life. Think about how you will arrange your room because now you need to accommodate new things like a crib, cupboard etc.  It is always good to involve your husband in your ideas, meetings to doctor, shopping etc. Men are usually very indifferent at this phase because they hardly know what’s coming ahead until they have experienced it. Whereas the mom is bearing the child and is feeling the baby’s presence everyday. She is usually more involved and excited about things. So even if your husband is dry and not bothered, just ignore it and enjoy this new feeling of motherhood.

Another way to lead a healthy pregnancy is to keep yourself busy. You can take some freelance job where you don’t have to go out in heat. All you are required to do is get up and start working in your pajamas whenever you like. Remember, this is a new phase of life where you ought to slow down your train. You will feel very often that the destination is too far. But keeping yourself busy and happy is a wise choice and within no time you’ll find these nine months coming to a great end, Your BABY!

In our lives we are all facing times when you are constantly struggling to make your boss happy, or satisfy your in-laws, or trying to meet your budget. But no matter how much you try, you are just not producing enough good work to stand out in the crowd. You are frustrated because in this entire struggle, you end up having not a minute for yourself, in doing something that you really would like to do. To top things, the price of gas keeps hiking and the wages are just never enough to meet our needs. Life is indeed stressful for each of us. What makes it more stressing is the fact that deep inside we all feel that life is monotonous. Same routine every day, cooking, cleaning, driving to workplace…everything stays just the same.

How can we change our situation and make our daily life appear brighter?

To start with, it is important to stay positive no matter how negative your environment seem. Sit down and identify the goal in your life. Work towards it even if it means taking just a small step at a time.

Take out time for some activity which you enjoy no matter how busy you are. This will help create equilibrium in your life despite how busy you are with office or household chores. We all need to do something to relax and lighten up once in awhile.

Lastly, do not give up on yourself or situation. Life is like this for everyone not just you.  Stay optimistic no matter how gloomy the outlook appears. Times change and trust me; things do get better, what matters is how you take them today. Keep saying to yourself, “Life is rosy” and it will be so!

Warning: file_get_contents(http://feeds.delicious.com/v2/json/urlinfo/data?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.biggtech.com%2Flifestyle%2Fare-you-keeping-a-cool-head-in-this-hot-summer_19.html) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! With the country going through a massive energy crisis (in name of load shedding) and with the unstoppable scorching sun, you generally see people angry and irritated at each other. This is because none of us is keeping a cool head in this hot summer. From moms shouting at children to fuming fathers driving on roads, from heated instructors at college to unwilling shopkeepers, each of us has failed to keep cool and positive this summer.

1-019a

As you read this article, you will find few ways that will help you beat the summer heat and stay pleasant and cool despite the unbearable circumstances.

  • Try to drink plenty of water. Keep a bottle of water with you whenever you go out of house. Do not wait until you feel thirsty. It is highly recommended to drink water at room temperature. I know we all want to get hold of the cold water bottle from the fridge before someone else drinks it. Actually, when you drink fluids on ice, the shock of cold only reduces the internal temperature of your stomach. This in turn harms your digestion system. Make an effort and stick to room-temperature fluids. Prefer Water-filled fruits and vegetables in your diet because they add to your hydration level. Lemonade is a very cooling drink in the summer heat. Avoid extra-sugary soft drinks. The sugar and caffeine will just make you thirstier and fill you with empty calories.
  • It is highly recommended to get up early in summers and take a midday rest when it is the hottest part of the day. Avoid overheating. For people who do not have any other choice than staying outdoors must dress in light, loose, cotton clothing and wear protective hats that will keep the sun out of their eyes and give them a cool shade. You can also carry a hand fan, and use an umbrella to avoid exposure to sun.
  • During the hot summer days, choose activities that do not overheat your body. The best option is swimming or working out in air-conditioned gyms or practicing yoga. Plan your physical activities for cooler times.
  • You can lower the body temperature with cool baths or showers. Cool your rooms and offices with fans and air conditions. The Window fans work most effectively when they blow air outside. This is when you place your fan on the sunny side of the room and let it expel the hot air while pulling cool air from open windows on the shady side. Remember to keep shades or curtains pulled on the sunny side of the house. Put off all unnecessary lights in the room. A dark room is a cool room.
  • Prefer quick fixing meals. Stick to vegetables and water filled fruits. Eating light, nutritious and non-fatty meals will make you less sleepy and more active during the heated days.
  • When you work outside, do take periodic breaks and rest in a cool area.
  • Remember never to leave children inside a car even with windows open.
  • Prefer shopping in air-conditioned malls. The best option to stay cool is to fly off to a cooler climate region. No harm in chasing winter across the globe if you can afford that is!

Wherever you go, in a bus, on functions, in shops, you find people discussing the extent of heat. Remember stop complaining it is too hot. The more you repeat this, the worse it will get for you. Before you know, summer heat will go away and rains will shower, soaking people and plants together and enlightening moods all around you.
