You won't find a USB drive smaller than this.

"Performance results are amazing when it comes to the Super Talent Pico C" – Tom’s Hardware

This flash drive is speedy too, “the I/O performance results are amazing when it comes to the Super Talent Pico C.” explained Tom’s Hardware reviewer Patrick Schmid. The Pico USB drive is also shock and water resistant, meaning a few bumps aren’t going to cause it to lose any data.

However the Pico suffers from slower write speeds. Patrick went on to say “the flash-based thumb drive is great for file storage, but not for intensive access.”

The Pico C USB Flash Drive is available now. The 4 GB version comes in at £9.45 while the larger 32 GB edition costs £35.45.

Skype, dominantly being the “King of VoIP world” is considered to be the cheapest, popular and the most widely used app among users. But now with the significant rise of VoIP companies racing to take the call share the competition is becoming fiercer then it was previously. Among this we have a danish company Vopium determined to cut the call rates and rapidly move forward to take the bite of Skype cake by offering cheaper call rates and highly affordable worldwide calling packages.

Vopium is a free downloadable app available for all popular OS (iPhone, Symbian, Android, Blackberry, Windows mobile and Java etc). Last year according to “The Guardian” there has been 50 million call minutes via Vopium – a figure which is continuously increasing.

A mini review by ekstrabladet.dk has compared call rates by Skype and Vopium in almost 15 countries where Vopium is found to be cheaper in countries such as (Afghanistan, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Thailand, Sweden, UK, Somalia, Polan, Norway); where as in two countries (China and USA) the prices are same; and in (Russia and Iceland) Skype provides cheaper rates.

Latest Firefox innovation called Tab Candy will make Firefox act more like a operating system, with much-improved multitasking and sharing capabilities. This feature will put Firefox in front of Google Chrome browser in term of usability, since it allows viewing of tabs into groups on a desktop like canvas.

Aza Raskin, the creator of Tab Candy, has perfectly articulated the workflow and tab overload problem in today’s modern Web browsers, and his Tab Candy vision of innovating the browser experience would be a major step forward. Check out the video demo below. It is interesting to know that Tab Candy is being developed entirely in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

Undoubtedly one of my most favorite game on iPhone is Bejeweled. It is simply an addictive game with great sound affects and colorful gems visuals that give you intense pleasure while playing. Whether i am sitting in a car waiting for my husband to bring grocery, or i am feeding my baby for long hours or even while waiting in a long queue. Bejeweled is just so irresistible especially on the iPhone 3G and am sure most of you think the same. It was great to discover some interesting facts on this game on games.yahoo.com/pluggedin. So for all those who have still not got their hands on it, check out the entire collection by this developer and don’t forget to try this magical gem swapping Bejeweled.

bejeweled2

1. It’s a money machine.

Developer PopCap Games originally tried to sell the rights to Bejeweled for just $40,000 — but found no takers. Instead, they decided to self-publish. When Bejeweled debuted in 2000, it was initially a browser-based game titled Diamond Mine, and the beta testers were the moms of the three co-founders. That turned out to be a smart move: according to PopCap, the game has generated well over $350 million dollars, establishing itself as one of the most lucrative game franchises ever. Despite it being a decade old, the game continues to sell somewhere in the world every 4.3 seconds.

2. It can be beaten.

Barely. In fact, only one person has ever officially completed Bejeweled 2: Mike Leyde, a 57-year old steel contractor from Riverside, California. In 2009, Leyde achieved the highest score possible — 2,147,483,647 points — after playing for more than 2,200 hours. Mike first discovered Bejeweled in 2005 when his son Brian bought him the game. Bejeweled 2 wasn’t designed to show a higher number than this, so his game simply showed a blank where the score would go.

dew_bank Pak Kitae of Seoul National University has designed a water bottle called “Dew Bank” which refills itself. Stainless steel Dew Bank when Left out over night, could capture enough dew to fill a water glass. The night’s lower temperatures cools the metal. As the air warms, water condenses on the bottle’s dome and travels down its grooves into a collecting channel at the base. A glass of water isn’t much but it might provide an added source of clean drinking water to people living in dry lands.

truphone Sometime back I wrote about TravelSIM, a GSM SIM that works in over 170 countries. This was for frequent travelers who trot the global on a monthly basis or even more frequently. It seems that the trend is catching on. Now truphone has launched a new SIM that lets subscribers to be local literally anywhere in the world. Moreover, they won’t even have to buy a new SIM card every time they travel out of country. This also means cheap calling anywhere to the tune of 90% as compared to standard calling rates!

Initially it has been launched for the UK, US and more countries will be added in 2010. The list includes South Africa, Hong Kong, Australia and some European countries as well. There are three different kinds of plans being offered the Starter, UK Holiday Pack and the US/UK Pro Pack. The Starter Pack offers local number and local rates for home country including low cost international calling and global roaming. The Starter pack can be upgraded to the Holiday and Pro bundle for more savings and advantages.

Users can also add a local country rate to their SIMs and pay as the locals. popsci The first time I got impressed was when MIT decided to put its courseware online for free. That was dubbed as MIT Open Course Ware, now its Popular Science that has done it. The magazine that has been publishing articles on science and technology, has partnered with Google to place there 137 years of data online for free!

Although there is no utility to browse through the issues but with the search facility one can find relevant stuff. Google ADs are included off course. Head on to the Popular Science Archive page and read to your heart’s content.

easy-paisa The easypaisa service is now getting more popular. Call n’ Speak a company that provides Phone to PC service for Pakistanis living abroad has announced that it will accept payments through easypaisa. The company offers calling services in USA, Islamabad and Lahore. Calls can be received on PC as well as mobile phone.

As of now only Telenor customers will be able to avail this facility. Other options for making payments include Western Union transfers, Google Checkout and Moneybookers. To avail the service users need to register an account first, upon which they buy a number. This is followed by a trial call and after necessary verification money transfers can be completed.

This is a really good facility for users. Actually all these services are pre-paid and this is the best part, because it can be used by virtually anywhere like a Debit Card. What I am particularly interested in is places like convenience stores, gas stations and restaurants. Let’s hope this thing catches on.

More info is available at the Call n’ speak website. Be sure to read the How it Works, FAQs and pricing details before signing up.
