Cell Phone Radiation thumb Check your phone radiation emitting level and select a safer phone Did you know that your mobile set generates radiation whenever you are calling or sending a text message. Well it is true, and few scientists believe that this radiation can cause cancer of brain, mouth and throat, as body is absorbing the radiation while a person is in a call.

Recently green lobbyist the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has released its guide to Mobile radiation emissions. They also have ranked mobile phones according to their specific absorption rate (SAR) – an indication of how much radiation is absorbed by the body when the phone is in use.

According to this ranking the phone with least radiation is Samsung Impression and also falling in safest phone category is Motorola Razor V8.

On the other hand phones like VU204, myTouch 3g, Kyocera Jax S1300 are the most radiation emitting phones. Blackberry curve 8330 and Apple iPhone 3G also emits high radiation ( surprise surprise )

The site also gives tips about how to protect yourself from radiation such as :

  1. Buy a low radiation phone, using the guide above.
  2. Use wireless, wired headset or speaker phone
  3. Listen more and talk less ( this is kinda funny, as someone has to speak in a conversation )
  4. Hold phone away from body ( i wonder how one can do this, I mean we can do this in car or on desk but rest of the time.. its thought prone idea )
  5. Send text messages instead of talking ( makes sense and also cost effective, but more time is involved )
  6. In case of poor signals avoid talking.
  7. don’t let young children use phone too much unless very urgent.
  8. Avoid covering phones with shields as it causes more radiation emitting.
