Motorola Droid ready for whole world and Droid 2.0 on the horizon

Motorola Droid, the phone which is a direct iPhone competitor, and is grabbing lot of attention in US market due to Google open source android SmartPhone OS and the application ecosystem surrounding it. The phone so far has been available in US only by verizon for $199 and rest of the world is still waiting for it.

Well, the good news is that in couple of months, Motorola is going to release unlocked version of Droid throughout the world. Motorola is expected to launch the Motorola Droid (unlocked) in February and as well as announce the release of Droid 2 aka Sholes or Shules or Sholes Tablet.

  • 3.5mm headset jack

  • Xenon flash
  • Android OS 2.1
  • NO QWERTY keyboard and uses soft keyboard

 Already available Motorola Millstone / Droid runs on the powerful ARM Cortex A8 550 MHz processor and boasts of a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen with 480×854 pixel resolution display. Other major features include a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, 4x digital zoom, duel LED flash, video recording at 24 FPS, image stabilization and night shot support, 1GB internal memory etc.

It will be interesting to see how Android 2.0/sholes tablet will rank against other other android phones are also on the horizon and competition will be stiff between Snapdragon 1GHz processor based Google Nexus One, HTC Bravo, XPERIA X10
