Main differences between Nokia E7 and Nokia N8

  • Nokia E7 sports 4 inch “Clear black Display” AMOLED crystal and ultra sharp touch screen. whereas Nokia N8 has 3.5 inch screen. although both are AMOLED but N8 does not sport “Clear Black Display”
  • I am not sure about the Anodized Aluminum body in Nokia E7, but apparently it seems Only N8 has it.
  • Obviously it has actual QWERTY slider keyboard, which is sexy and attractive. Engadget says “The keyboard is the best we can remember using on any Nokia
  • Both have fully touch control interface, but E7 has touch sensitive additional controls.
  • E7 is slightly thicker and beefy to host additional keyboard.
  • There is no MicroSD slot hence no additional memory card, but has 16 GB internal memory.
  • Nokia E7 has low spec camera (8 MP, 3266×2450 pixels, autofocus, dual-LED flash)  in compared to Nokia N8 ( 12 MP, 4000×3000 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, Xenon flash)
  • Furthermore, there is no secondary front camera in Nokia E7. I wonder if it is not required for business video calls. Nokia N8 has secondary vga front camera.
  • GPRS and EDGE class 32 in E72 and Class 33 in Nokia N8
  • Nokia N8 supports UPnP technology in Wireless capabilities.
  • E7 has bigger charging connector, while N8 has thinner charging connector.
  • There are also additional multimedia capabilities and software in Nokia N8.
  • Nokia E7 is reported to have more battery juice and provide around 3 additional hours of talk time, and additional 40 hours of 2G and 80 hours on 3G networks when in standby mode.
  • Business features of E7 include support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Mail for Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft Share Point Server, MS Outlook sync of contacts, calendar, and notes and multiple calendars with meeting request support, IBM Lotus Notes Traveler, Quickoffice dynamic premium, Adobe PDF reader, and F-Secure Anti-theft.

No MicroSD slot in the E7? Ouch. If true, that's a real shortcoming, in my book.

Presumably, although the hardware might be terrific, the software of this (allegedly) “business class smart phone” doesn't know diddly about categories. I'm thinking it won't allow for the creation of categories of contacts, appointments, tasks and files and won't allow users to create views which filter or sort by categories. No syncing of categories to Outlook or cloud-based services such as Google Calendar.

Eye candy UI cannot make up for this ongoing deficiency, not only in Symbian^3 but in other so-called “smart phone” operating systems. It's just another phone whose PIM isn't even as smart as the Palm OS of 10 years ago. . .

The official Specs of the E7 actually says: “Secondary camera for video calls (VGA, 640 x 480 pixels)”.

Otherway, its nonsense for a so called bussines smartphone.

The N8 is $549 in the US. Look on the Nokia website. Also I talked to a customer rep to check that price.
The N8 and the E7 according to gsmarena.com use the same battery. Looks like the E7 is a slightly stripped down version of the N8 [except of course for the keyboard on the E7]

The Nokia E7-00 is business-class Symbian^3 device that combines a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard with touch screen.

But why I like this phone is because of features like integrated mobile office and messaging applications, 8 megapixel Full Focus camera with dual-LED flash, social networking integration, WebTV and A-GPS with Ovi Maps. It also has a secondary camera which enables video calling……….. 

It has internal memory of 16 GB storage, 256 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM…. Amazing phone, eagerly waiting for this phone……

What You cannot replace the battery in nokia phone ??? where are you coming from ??? we are not talking about iPhone here mate…

  • Antonyhop83

The N8 and E7 are the only nokias with a non replacement battery. You must have special screwdrivers in order to replace it. I own a N8 (and soon will change to E7)…

i think that nokia n8 is thousand times better than nokia e7 in camera and touch …………. what you people say about this ……..? i like nokia n8 more than e7 .. may be this is due to the reason that i m a fan of photography …. n8 is slimmer and more beautifull

  • http://www.nokiae7.dk/ Nokia e7

I think its not right to call it a stripped down version of N8, other than tha keyboard the screen is better and its got a lot of new funktions

  • Morilec2

lies… Nokia E7 DOES have a front faced camera and… WTF? bigger charger? there’s no special charger for E7, just USB.

  • Makispro

actually, what he said is true. You can not replace the battery in a E7 or N8.

I am having N8 and E7 both ….. N8 looks better than e7 , but the physical qwerty pad enhances e7 value and diminishes n8 market alot
