by Ahmad on November 4, 2011

ChevronWP7 was an unlock tool for Windows Phone 7 but after blockade by Microsoft, rumors were in the air that ChevronWP7 would come officially. But, recently the Chevron team announced that ChevronWP7 is now official and Windows Phone 7 can be unlocked to install new third party apps.

With many new upcoming Windows phones, like that of Nokia Lumia series and many HTC ones also, Chevron has, finally, released the official app for unlocking theses new smartphones to allow many third party apps.

You can follow the instruction below to install ChevronWP7:

  • Write down your email, First and Last Name, select your country and finally write down the city and select the appropriate option and click save profile

  • Next, you would be asked to buy a token of $9 which is only a small amount and that token would be used to unlock your app after downloading.

  • Now, download the unlocking tool and use the token to activate the software (requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4 to work which you can download from here.

While I was trying to download the unlocking tool, it was not available for download but I was showed that the tool was off-load for some maintenance but, I hope it would be available soon as many people are waiting for that long awaited tool.

This official release has now opened the doors to endless possibilities for developers and personal users who can install and enjoy third party apps.

This tool is a waste of money. It only allows you to install 10 apps which have no right to access system files. Beside that the phone stays FULLY LOCKED. This is why it has gotten Microsoft approval.
