Latest Firefox innovation called Tab Candy will make Firefox act more like a operating system, with much-improved multitasking and sharing capabilities. This feature will put Firefox in front of Google Chrome browser in term of usability, since it allows viewing of tabs into groups on a desktop like canvas.

Aza Raskin, the creator of Tab Candy, has perfectly articulated the workflow and tab overload problem in today’s modern Web browsers, and his Tab Candy vision of innovating the browser experience would be a major step forward. Check out the video demo below. It is interesting to know that Tab Candy is being developed entirely in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

Myspace_Facebook_Calendar People seem to think information they put on the internet is transient – here today, gone tomorrow. Increasingly, we are finding data doesn’t disappear when you delete it. It may be automatically saved by Facebook or Google.

You may think you got rid of something but it can come back to bite you. If you are 18, you don’t think about your 42-year-old self looking for a job or promotion. People don’t consider that long-term risk. I think this could become a serious problem in future. Young people seem very blasé about their privacy, but their opinions may change in years to come.

People should consider what information they are letting out about themselves and to whom. Even if you think you have secured your pages through Facebook, the data may be accessible through other routes like Google.

icann It will now be possible to have URLs and Internet addresses in Non-Latin script. This means now it will be possible to have domains in Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew or other languages. This was heavily voted by the board of ICANN at Seoul just recently.

Out of the 1.6 billion netizens half are those who speak languages that do not use Latin scripts. It is these 800 million that will benefit form this move. The change could come as early as next year and is being considered as a big one. For the past 40 years or so the same old system has been in place and this is a good development in this sphere.

On the technical front some major changes would be required in the DNS so that it is able to recognize these non-Latin characters and scripts. Once that is done, the rest will be easy.

Archos5_small_screen What exactly is the ultimate gadget that one can dream of? Personally I would like to carry one slim not too fat, energy efficient gadget that would allow me to make phone calls, surf the Internet at will (without straining my eyes), play games (well once in a while), listen to music, watch movies, take photographs/make (acceptable quality) videos , locate my position on the planet, use it as a PC (off course with an external keyboard, mouse and display attached),noting less, nothing more.

Although mobile phones have gotten smarter, smaller, and more efficient, but my contention is why to have a separate laptop, camera, GPS, mobile phone, NetBook, webcam, PC etc. Why don’t they make a device which has all of these in one place, a small nifty thing that that sits in your shirt pocket, never mind if it doesn’t have the video projector built in to it. Well I guess somebody heard all this…only a little less, or maybe they are beginning to think like me. I am talking about the Archos 5 and 7 Android based Internet Tablets. These are mean looking devices that pack so much in so little. These things which are coming to the shelves soon have some new features which are not present in any gadget presently:

Screen Res:  800 x400 pixels, High Res screen, 16 M colors

Screen Size:   5 and 7 inches (Archos 5 and Archos 7)

Memory/Storage: 60 to 320 GB (depending on the model)

Connectivity:  USB, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g)

Attachments: Keyboard, mouse, camera, external memory via USB

OS: Linux

Features and Goodies: PDF Reader, E-mail client, Photo viewer, Web browser, video playback, video recording, Audio recording, video playback, audio playback, built-in speakers, Web TV, Web Radio, games, widgets, video streaming from a PC, and a rather long battery life.

Last Words: Archos 5 and 7 have introduced a new concept in Internet devices that are small but pack a punch. Compared to the Zune or iPod nano it has outstanding features. However, I would still like it when a newer model includes a GPS and camera if not a GSM module.

Protecting_Children_Online1 The internet is irrefutably a double-edged sword. Along with the wealth of knowledge, resources, games and entertainment come along the dangers and risks emanating from the abusive use of technology. An omnipotent, ubiquitous and unregulated communications network demands drastic measures from the government and constant vigilance from parents to protect children. Measures at both the national and individual level must be taken to prevent the internet from becoming a safe haven for criminals and pedophiles alike, and to ensure a safe & healthy online experience for the nation’s children.

In this two part guide we we will first take a look at what threats and dangers the Internet posses, the idea is to make parents aware of these threats and they should become vigilant. In the second part we will discuss various measures parents, government, social organizations and communities should adopt to counter these threats. This is a must read guide for all parents who want to protect their children online and to do so that they need to know what are the potential dangers of internet.

image As announced back in march at game developer conference OnLive will allow gamers to play games online without using any hardware. The idea is based on streaming video, Onlive server will let the user connect to their servers using internet, spawn the game of their choice and play, thus only a good internet connection is required. Neat idea if you ask me. This will definitely allow casual gamers to play hardware demanding games without upgrading their PCs.  Cool thing is that the gamers on both PC and mac rigs will be able to enjoy the games.

Well the wait is over and you could be one gamer to find out if this idea is really possible and how good are the services.  OnLive has initiated the Open beta program of their services on their OnLive Blog.

The service right now is only available for US gamers, but I hope as beta phase is over international gamers will also be able to experience the thrill of playing latest game titles via internet stream. Man I sure am excited about this prospect .

Quickly sign up for the beta OnLive site, though there are many factors for you being enrolled in beta program. Check out and perhaps you will get it.

More details are OnLive Blog
