Android 3.0 SDK Release Promises to Enhance App Selection

Google has just released the Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” software development kit, SDK. This will now give developers full power to write the next up and coming app for the Tablet platform. This deployment doesn’t come too far from the launch of the first Honeycomb powered Tablet, the Motorola XOOM…one day ahead to be exact. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to most. With the XOOM being retailed at the hefty price of $799.99 unsubscribed or $599.99 with a two year service agreement, there must be some pretty good perks somewhere to entice the weary buyers. The SDK release means that there will now be a bevy of new developers vying to get their new apps available on the app market for sale or even for free. Currently there are no apps made specifically for the XOOM’s 10.1 inch screen. Sure, the Android phone apps do stretch to fit the larger tablet screen, but for 800 of my hand earned bucks, I’m sure you and I both would like to see some just-for-me apps out there! Honeycomb is bringing a new user interface specifically for the tablet platform.

The slick new designed home screen really enhances the appearance of the tablet specific apps. Hopefully, the  developers utilize all of the prime real estate and technology to supply us with some awesome programs and games.

The XOOM’s platform serves as a perfect backdrop for creating great apps. It features a 3D graphics rendering engine, a dual core 1GHz processor and 32GB of internal memory. Future Android 3.0 tablets expected to market are the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the LG Optimus Pad. For those who’s pockets aren’t quite large enough for the XOOM, there’s still hope for you yet.
