As announced on the website of Ainol (the China-based corporate entity), a $100 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet is available for sale not only for China but for U.S. market as well.
U.S.-based MIPS Technologies and Ingenic Semiconductor along with China-based mobile chip manufacturer and provider, have displayed its global availability of ‘First-ever tablet’ to be powered by the Android 4.0 (also known as Ice Cream Sandwich).
While welcoming the arrival of MIPS-Based Android 4.0 tablets into the market, Andy Rubin, senior vice president of mobile at Google, praised this low cost and still high performing tablet which may win the hearts of the mobile consumers. He is also of the view that Android, with openness drives innovation and competition for the benefit of consumers around the world, has won the heart of users.
Initially, this tablet is available ‘Online’ in China though Ainol Electronics plans to make its availability in the U.S. and other global regions in the upcoming months as Leader International and OMG Electronics are planning to launch it under their umbrella.

1. Larger 8- and 9-inch form factors will be available soon
2. Ingenic’s MIPS-based JZ4770 processor running at 1GHz
3. Graphics based on a Vivante GC860 graphics processing unit
